Kosciusko, one of "America's 100 Best Small Towns", offers much to do and see, whether you are one of the local citizens or a tourist.
The following are a few points of interest to consider while visiting in one of the "Top Sixty Prettiest Painted Towns in America".
Oprah Winfrey's Birthplace - Oprah Winfrey is one of Attala County's most celebrated natives. Oprah Winfrey Road is the location of her birthplace, her first church, and her family cemetery.
Mary Ricks Thornton Cultural Center - The Cultural Center, formally a Presbyterian Church, was built in 1899. It has a country gothic style architecture and the sanctuary features outstanding stained glass windows. The Delta Gamma Founder's room is located within the Cultural Center and features portraits of three of its founders. The Cultural Center now belongs to the Kosciusko-Attala Historical Society and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Court House Square - The Attala County Courthouse is located on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Mississippi Historic Landmark. County offices are still located in the Court House.
Towers and Turrets - Kosciusko offers a walking or driving tour of 28 historic homes, many of which are on the National Register of Historic places, as well as other historic places in Kosciusko and Attala County.
Kosciusko Museum and Information Center - Located in the Natchez Trace Parkway, the Kosciusko Museum and Information Center provides information about the heritage of Kosciusko, the surrounding area, and the State of Mississippi. Rotating Exhibits are featured each month.
The Attala County Library and the Mid-Mississippi Regional Library - The Library features a special collection of books about Poland and Tadeusz Kosciuszko as well as one of the state's largest genealogy collections.
L.V. Hull's Ethnic Yard Art - Visitors from all over the world stop by to view L.V.'s collection of interesting assortment of yard art. L.V. paints whatever comes her way and has been featured in many national publications.
Other Points of Interest to Visit - Redbud Springs Bicentennial Park, Kelly's Statue, Alexander Memorial Presbyterian Church, Jackson's Well, Betha Church, and New Hope Lutheran Church (known as the Mother Church of Mississippi Lutherans).
